The Spanish Advisor Rosa-María Pérez is really keen to offer professional leadership in Spanish.
As a civil servant of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Social Policies and Sport I am part of the Education Services of the Spanish Embassy in Canberra. As a Spanish advisor in New Zealand I am part of ILANZ advisory team and, therefore, linked to the New Zealand Ministry of Education. As you can see, I rely on the support of two important and complementary institutions sharing a common aim: Quality assistance to provide development for teaching Spanish in New Zealand.
The support that I offer teachers of Spanish depends on both general and particular needs, but I will always be willing to share with you whatever knowledge, skills and experience we have.
I offer you assistance through a wide range of different means:
-
School visits. Our visits to schools are free of charge.
We can come for a chat about the Spanish Curriculum in New Zealand, resources, documentation of specific issues on teaching Spanish, etc, e-mail us. - Professional Development. We run local, regional and national courses and workshops. These courses can be conducted in English or in Spanish. The aim of those courses may focus on language or / and methodology to reinforce and update teaching skills.
- Advice (in person, by phone, email, post, fax...). If you are looking for advice in any matter relating to the teaching of Spanish, please do not hesitate to contact us. For advice on issues relating to NCEA or departmental management, contact the teacher support services at your nearest College of Education.
-
Our distribution list ELENZA.
This distribution list will be of assistance to Spanish teachers in New Zealand and Australia.
The messages sent to the list will be delivered to
everyone who has subscribed to the list, mostly teachers
working in New Zealand.
Any problems, advice or information of general interest, regarding our work, should be sent to this list; for example: methodology, books, exercises, courses, questions, meetings, etc.
- Information on resources (including using ICT) for the teaching of Spanish.
- Useful contacts: we can put you in touch with any association and person related to the teaching of Spanish in New Zealand: STANZA, NZALT... And as part of the education services of the Spanish Embassy in Canberra we can put you in touch with those related to the teaching of Spanish in Australia.
- Gathering information about teaching Spanish in New Zealand.
- Production, selection and information on educational resources.
- Through The Spanish Cultural and Resource Centre "Alejandro Malaspina", placed in Canberra, we can provide Spanish teachers with useful and up-to-date Spanish resources. The Centre is a non-profit organization and provides resources on a free loan basis, with the exception of interstate loans, which the interested party is liable for the cost of postage.
- Scholarships at Spanish universities for the development of New Zealand Spanish teachers.
- Information relating to topics of interest for teachers and students.
- We also collaborate with New Zealand universities.
- We are the coordinators to provide DELE exams (Spanish Ministry of Education officially recognized titles to show a certain degree of competence and proficiency in Spanish).
